SLOW DOWN RETREAT

November 6th - 13th, 2021    San Agustinillo, Oaxaca, Mexico

Experience a week of deep rest that will recharge and rejuvenate your body, mind, heart, and soul.

The Slow Down Retreat is designed to provide space for our participants to connect with all aspects of themselves and return home feeling centered, joyful, and energized, and ready to be the best versions of themselves.

In times of a constant barrage of information, experiences, and conflicting priorities, our nervous system, body, mind, and heart need time to unwind and recharge.

We ache to reconnect with ourselves in a loving and caring way. The retreat intends to help you master the art of rest by restoring energies in the key areas of your life.

The retreat is inspired by Marina Romashko’s and Piamundo’s shared philosophies; when we immerse ourselves in beauty, it inspires, touches, and transforms all aspects of our being.

Area One: Mental Rest

We help our participants to take a break from their hectic everyday life, social media, and Zoom meetings and instead initiate a digital detox. You will receive advice and support through this process, gradually learning how to create boundaries with social media and your phones.

Area Two: Active + Passive

Physical Rest

A range of physical activities will be available to choose from: yoga, therapeutic massages, surfing, hiking, and swimming in the ocean. Passive rest, including deep sleeping and power napping, will be lovingly encouraged. Additionally, nourishing your body with the abundance of seasonal, local and organic food that can be mindfully enjoyed in the beautiful on-site restaurant will effortlessly ground you.

Area Three: Environmental Rest

The lush wilderness of the Oaxacan coast ensures that your experience will galvanize your natural creativity. The minimalist resort we specifically chose for you is explicitly designed so that guests can fully experience the natural beauty of their surroundings. Every object you encounter is consciously handmade and, together with the architectural details and the natural surroundings, will reawaken the awe and wonder inside each of us.

Area Four: Emotional Rest

Different mindfulness and spiritual modalities and tools will be available to help process emotions, negative patterns, and limiting beliefs to feel lighter and clearer about your life priorities and individual purpose.

Area Five: Spiritual Rest

Monte Uzulu gets its name from the word gusulú, which means the start or beginning in the language of the Zapotec people indigenous to the region. Drawing on this meaning, the hotel is modeled to be closely connected to nature and honor the earth and water as the fundamental elements. The essence of both Monte Uzulu and the Slow Down Retreat is the experience of being conscious.

Daily meditation and journaling prompts will help retreat participants connect with their souls and feel a deep sense of belonging, love, and acceptance. In addition, we will connect to the local community through the meals offered at the organic restaurant on-site and learn more about the artisans that made different hotel design elements.

Testimonials

The slowdown retreat was a fun and unique experience. My days started with blissful early morning walks watching the Pacific Ocean to taking an inspiring Yoga class, followed by a fresh smoothie and into meditation. Reading, swimming and sharing experiences with my others during the day and at night was not only interesting but also very motivational. The perfect excursions  with fun activities organized by Marina and Kat complemented the trip even more. Meditation with Zuyapa was the perfect way to balance the wonderful journey! I came back totally rejuvenated and with renewed focus on my work.

I can’t wait to go back and have more great memories.

The Slow Down Retreat was one of the best things I’ve could have done turning 30. It gave me a chance to reflect, plan, and focus on myself. WHO KNEW TAKING A STEP BACK WAS SOMETHING I NEEDED. I came out with a different perceptive and check-in on what was going on in my life. It was a great place to meet people from different walks of life with different goals and perspectives. It really helped me grow, and we all grew together too. Sometimes we are just all in our heads too much, and the group aspect was an amazing help. Marina and Kathrin planned wonderful excursions from sunset swims, hikes, whales sighting, boat rides, and amazing local dinners. Also, daily yoga was incredible, and my cabana was right in front of the beach :)! So happy, I went!
